About Us
We operate our school in a real dental practice, however, our students learn and practice their dental assisting skills on each other rather than on patients from the general public. This enables our students to learn in a more relaxed and fun environment, without any added pressures of having "live patients" or a dentist on site.
Our instructors all currently work in the dental profession - as dental assistants and/or dental hygienists with strong dental assisting backgrounds. Our afternoon practice sessions consist of small student-to-instructor work groups; allowing for more personalized attention to monitor and address individual students' learning styles and needs.
What We Offer
Most busy dentists and dental practices cannot adequately provide "on the job" training and still continue to deliver dental care because of the additional stress created in trying to fit new hire training into their regular workday. That's where we come in!
General dentists can rely on our school to teach the basic, core, entry-level dental assisting skills, such as operatory preparation, infection control protocols, sterilization center processes, patient check-in and check-out protocols, chairside instrumentation identification and transfer, handling and mounting x-ray images for the dentist's use, as well as how to record exisiting conditions, treatment to be done and periodontal conditions into the patients' records.
Upon completing our course, our students have the knowledge they need to pass the first two Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) competency exams: Radiation Health & Safety (RHS) and Infection Control (IC).
By relying on NESDA as their job-training center, dentists can (1) depend on our graduating students to be better prepared to step into an available dental assisting position, and (2) focus more on the employing practice's specific training when our graduate job applicant is hired.
